CPC Joins Groundbreaking Youth-Led Research Initiative to Combat Gun Violence

The Christopher A. Pugh II Center (CPC) is proud to participate in the Youth Participatory Action Research (YPAR) Project, a powerful initiative organized by Memphis Allies and Youth Villages that places young people at the center of efforts to end gun violence in Memphis.

Alongside Project STAND, Pursuit Center, and Switch Youth, CPC is engaging youth with lived experiences of violence in a bold approach to community transformation. YPAR equips these young leaders with the tools of research, advocacy, and storytelling, ensuring their voices are not only heard but actively shape solutions.

Throughout the project, participants are trained to conduct research, analyze data, and present actionable strategies to stakeholders and community partners. By leading these efforts, youth are empowered to influence policies and systems that directly affect their lives and neighborhoods. Being part of this initiative reinforces CPC’s deep commitment to youth empowerment and community healing. YPAR reminds us that young people are not just impacted by violence; they are key to ending it.

As Memphis continues to confront rising gun violence, the YPAR Project represents a meaningful step toward long-term change, driven by the insight, resilience, and leadership of the city’s youth.
