The Christopher A. Pugh II Center (CPC) is excited to announce that it has been selected as a recipient of the Joint Office of Neighborhood Safety & Engagement’s (JONSE) Safer Communities Grant Program. This grant will allow CPC to continue and expand its comprehensive community intervention and mental wellness programming. These efforts are designed to reduce violent crime and improve overall safety in some of Shelby County's most economically disadvantaged neighborhoods.
This funding is a testament to the critical work CPC is doing to address the root causes of violence and to support individuals and families with the resources they need to thrive. CPC’s programs are focused on empowering the community by offering conflict resolution, mental health support, and skills development—all essential tools for building safer, healthier neighborhoods.
The grant award was presented to CPC on Tuesday, November 19, 2024, at a reception held at the City Hall, in the Hall of Mayors. The event provided an opportunity for CPC and other recipients to celebrate their achievements and discuss their goals for creating safer communities.
The CPC team is looking forward to building upon its successful community initiatives and forging strong partnerships that will help reduce violence and enhance mental wellness throughout Memphis. With the support of JONSE Safer Communities Grant, CPC is well-positioned to continue its important work of fostering peace and opportunity in Shelby County.
