Program Highlight: Civic Engagement & Youth Leadership

The Christopher A. Pugh II Center hosted a community-wide panel discussion featuring Shelby County Commission candidates, in partnership with the West Tennessee Women’s Political Caucus (WTNPC). This event brought residents and CPC participants together for a meaningful evening of civic dialogue and community engagement.

CPC’s young men were allowed to observe and participate in democratic processes firsthand by hearing directly from candidates seeking public office. Through this experience, they gained exposure to civic leadership, public policy discussions, and the importance of informed participation in local governance.

This event supported CPC’s commitment to youth voice, leadership development, and civic awareness, helping participants understand how community decisions are made and how their own voices can shape the future.

We thank the West Tennessee Women’s Political Caucus, the event moderator, and all participating candidates for their willingness to engage with our community and create a learning-centered environment for our young men.
